A Note About Writing Well
Everything that is popular is not well written, and everything well written is not popular. It just goes to show that the buying public doesn’t necessarily want well written stories, they just want good ones that happen to be well written. Also, while I couldn’t find many statistics that show how many people on average are more literate than others, some readers just don’t like properly written.
Stephen King would be the first to tell you that he is no literary perfectionist. His novels have been wildly popular, and yet for the most part, they fall into a category that literature snobs have for some time called “commercial fiction”. That is because it’s something that does well without necessarily being well.
The point of my blog post today is just to let authors know you don’t have to be an English professor to write a book, you just have to have a good story and be determined enough to tell that story in an interesting way.
